Gig Guide Highlights
Jeff Healey has dropped from our earthly view, and will be sorely missed -- not only for his remarkable skill, enthusiasm and scholarly understanding of American Music, but for the love with which he gave to all his performances. I named him "Scrapper" (as in Mr. Blackwell,) while we jammed around for days non-stop at the Montreux Jazz Festival once on a blue moon. I had been playing up at Claude Nob's chalet when Jeff picked up a Dobro and we went right into "Sweet Georgia Brown." Well, Claude went nuts and asked us to do a set of Jazz-Hot after Chris Rea and before Blues Traveler the next night. He sang Louis Armstrong songs from the 1920's and believe me, it was a shot in the arm to meet him and to have had the pleasure of enjoying The Play together. Here's one more for the road to you, "Scrapper" ! The latest reviews can be read here, and feedback and comments can be read here. |
